What Is It? April 2016

whatisit1

We had many correct guesses to our What Is It for April. The official description is that it is a bronze hemming bird. It is probably 19th Century English. It clamps to a table. The beak opens to grip cloth—and free a hand—when the tail is pinched; delicate fabrics are pinned to the cushion at the top.

Denny Dahl of Denver, Colorado; Barbie Groff, Syosset, New York; Thomas Rhodes, Littleton, Colorado; B. Houser, Florissant, Colorado; Loene McIntyre, Ft. Collins, Colorado; Dottie Unruh, Lakewood, Colorado and Vicky Kellen of Castle Pines, Colorado have all correctly identified the sewing bird.
