By Jon DeStefano One of the hidden treasures in Colorado’s antique community is Heirlooms Antique Mall nestled in a small shopping center on the west side of Havana Street at Jewell in Aurora beneath a huge antique mall sign. This is a hidden jewel you need to explore this holiday season.
Customers will tell you they love the mall, as I do. Drop by and you will see why. As you enter Heirlooms, you will notice how open and bright it is. There are dealers spaces on the main level, the back alcove and the lower level. There are so many unique specialty items throughout the mall you may miss something your first visit.
With over 50 dealers and vendors, collections include antiques, vintage, collectible items and numerous oddities and curiosities. There is an outstanding selection of precious stone and rocks, too. A few specialty items you will find on the upper level are a wonderful array of books, including first editions. There is fabulous folk art, elegant and depression glassware, pottery and porcelain, vintage jewelry is available and eclectic items are everywhere.
Watches and clocks are plentiful along with tools, cast iron and lots of guy stuff. In fact the man cave items are so plentiful and unique that I have to stop by every time I’m in the neighborhood. Unique at Heirlooms Antique Mall is their outstanding music collectables from sheet music and records to actual instruments for the music lover on the upper and lower levels. It has perhaps one of the largest vinyl selections in Colorado. Quite a bit of sterling silver is still available in a few dealer spaces. Some lovely antique furniture is to be had upstairs and down as well as Persian rugs. If you’re looking for a chandelier, glassware or that special piece of art you will find it here. For the holiday season you will also find a great selection of dolls and toys, vintage comic books and sports cards. How about some sports memorabilia? You can find it here! A nice collection of country wares are available through the mall. Now, the back alcove has much of what has already been listed and even more unique items including some very rare western collectables can be found here.
If I forgot to mention what you are looking for, it is likely to be somewhere in the mall. The lower level is a treat to behold for everyone. There is a vintage clothing section which includes wedding gowns.
The store is full of Christmas items and has many decorations, including a vintage metal Christmas tree and ornaments. Enamelware is plentiful along with much more of those smalls you may be looking to find. They also have a book nook for you to find that good read.
