 Each December the town of Georgetown transforms for two weekends into a bustling Christmas scene reminiscent of Christmas of long ago. Thousands come to this tiny mountain town to experience a traditional holiday where  Christmas hasn’t changed in 100 years: roasted chestnuts, holiday shopping, horse-drawn wagon rides through historic Georgetown, and wonderful sights and smells. Visitors enjoy appearances by St. Nicholas in his traditional dress and the daily procession of the Santa Lucia performed by the students of Georgetown Community School.  Carolers in Victorian costume, dancers, and other family entertainment provide hours of memorable performances. Adorned with lights and Christmas greenery and blanketed with snow, the quaint, historic town of Georgetown,  Colorado has been a Christmas tradition for generations of Colorado families.

 The Georgetown Christmas Market is held the first and second weekends of December and admission is FREE.  Christmas Market features an outdoor European marketplace with handcrafted gifts in addition to Georgetown’s charming year-round shopping experience, an Alpine Biergarten at Rue de Noël, and additional marketplace shopping at Christmas Alley. Beautiful and unique shops showcase Christmas ornaments and decorations,  Victorian items for the home, art, Colorado wine, rare books, jewelry, exquisite clothing, antiques, and gifts.  Christmas Market Museum Tours offer a relaxed way to see the Hamill House, Hotel de Paris, Alpine Hose #2, Energy Museum, and The Old School (formerly known as the Georgetown Heritage Center). Docents are on hand to give information or answer questions, but guests may stroll through the properties at their leisure to enjoy the holiday decor.

 BOOK NOW for Santa’s Rocky Mountain Adventure, and the evening holiday lights trains, Santa’s Lighted Forest, with even MORE lights added this season! Santa will be joining us on EVERY departure until Christmas to begin checking his list!

 Reserve by the table in our cozy and classy Waldorf Presidential Club Car, Tahoe Executive Club Car, or one of our three Parlor cars; the Argentine, Silver Queen, and Clear Creek. Tables seat 2-4 guests depending on the table selected and will feature on-board snacks and beverage service, including special holiday cocktails available for purchase. Please, no outside food or beverage on the Presidential and Parlor Cars.

 Or, reserve by the seat in our enclosed and heated coach cars (coach cars do not offer snacks or beverage service).

 After Christmas, we’ll continue the fun with our Victorian Holiday Celebration after December 26. Come see Ebenezer Scrooge and learn of his visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future! Both day time and night time departures will be available, with night time departures featuring our lighted forest.

 Day time departures feature Santa’s Rocky Mountain Adventure through December 24th. Enjoy the scenic and snowy vistas while riding through the forest and over the 95 foot tall High Bridge. Santa will be joining us on every departure before Christmas! This train ride lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, round-trip. Santa’s Lighted Forest

Night time departures feature Santa’s Lighted Forest through December 24th. The station and forest alongside the tracks are decorated with more than 300,000 holiday lights. Santa will be joining us on every departure before Christmas! This train ride lasts approximately 60 minutes, round-trip.
