On October 16, the Jefferson County Historical Commission (JCHC) and History Jeffco presented Hall of Fame awards to several worthy organizations and people who have preserved the history of Jefferson County. Among honored guests were JCHC Members and Emeriti, county commissioners, and planning and zoning members. It was also JCHC’s and History Jeffco’s Golden Anniversary.
Here are the honorees: Norm & Ethel Meyer of the Wheat Ridge Historical Society for Historic Preservation; JCHC Landmarks Program which included Wheat Ridge Historical Park and Baugh House and Welch Ditch. Bishop George M. Randall and Rita Peterson were also honored.
The 2024 “Historically Jeffco” Magazine was also honored. Editor Kayla Gabehart and Co-editor Bonnie Scudder and Photo Editor Dick Scudder have been the driving force behind this amazing publication. Their most recent issue has a theme of “Mining, Mysteries and Monuments.”
The event was held at the Green Center, located on the Colorado School of Mines Campus in Golden, Colorado. The 150th anniversary of Colorado School of Mines (CSM) inspired a theme that reflects the school’s history with the mining industry in Jeffco. Founded in 1874, CSM was the center of mining education in the Territory with its own experimental mine used for training students.
The Hall of Fame event was a worthy undertaking which gave attention to many people and projects that contributed to the preservation of Jefferson County history.
